You have belly fat and you think it is normal for your age. Not normal but natural. Stop confusing these meanings. Is it normal that you have belly fat? Do you wear your favorite skinny jeans? This is a problem!
Actually, the cause is not only this. Scientists have found that belly fat is the most dangerous of all the fats, accumulating in the human body. Belly fat damages organs and blood vessels so that it ups your risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, some cancers and even dementia.
Now do you understand why it is dangerous?! You ask us- “What can I do?”. Avoiding added sugar and processed carbs. The Mediterranean diet can also help you. Eat more fresh products, whole grains, limited red meat and healthy fats. Of course some physical exercises will help you too.
Here are a few scientific reasons why any weight you gain seems to go straight to your tummy and stay there.
#1.Your mom was apple-shaped
Genetics play an important role in our body. Look at your ancestry and you’ll see what shape of belly they have: apple-shape or pear-shape. Those whose genes push them into the apple-shaped category may have to pay attention to their workout and diet if they want to stop their bellies from protruding.
#2. Your hormones are shifting
During menopause you are at risk of gaining weight on your belly. A drop in estrogen, coupled with your metabolism naturally slowing a bit as you age is likely to blame. You must pay more attention to your body and do some training.
#3. You have PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome affects around 10 to 20% of women during their reproductive years. These women have higher than usual testosterone levels and also often find themselves gaining weight, especially around the middle. Since men are more likely to be apples than pears it's thought that those high testosterone levels might cause this typically "male" pattern of weight gain.
If you suspect that you may have this disease talk with your doctor. You may need some medicine.
#4. You’re not getting enough sleep – or you’re sleeping too much
Sleep is the main factor of our health. You should sleep 7-9 hours at night. If you sleep 4-5 hours or 10-12 hours this is the main reason for your belly fat. If you read this and realize that you sleep less or more you should regulate your sleep.
#5. You’re seriously stressed
Stress causes great damage to our health. Experts have long known that frazzled folks are more likely to accumulate belly fat. When you're under pressure your body pumps out cortisol, a hormone that wreaks havoc in at least two ways.
For starters, it makes you more likely to seek out fatty, sugary foods that provide quick comfort. Cortisol also alters your body chemistry so you burn off fewer calories and store more as fat. Try to be less nervous and look for ways to calm yourself. Music and yoga will help you!
