If you’re looking for a diet that will work fast, then this combination of two popular diets, the egg and grapefruit diets, may work for you. Don’t be fooled, however. This diet will help you drop water weight very quickly, but unless you keep eating well and exercising after the 3-day detox, you will gain the weight right back.

The two diets which are combined to create this new were created in the 1960s and 1970s. Both original diets used serious restriction of calories.

A Preview of Your 3-Days

This diet is also very restricting when it comes to calories, and you are allotted just 600 to 800 calories per day. Another thing you will find with this method, is that you will eat basically no carbohydrates. This is one of the reasons you will shed such a large amount of water weight in a limited time.

When you partake in such a low calorie diet, you need to make sure that you stay extremely hydrated, and take vitamin and mineral supplements, if possible. The two main foods you will eat during this diet are eggs and grapefruit, although they will be supplemented with other choices, as well, in small portions.

Your Menu

You will follow this menu for all 3 days. It looks boring, but if you manage to stick with it, you will see that your water weight slides off you.

Your Breakfast:

  • Whole wheat toast (1 slice).
  • Plain coffee (1 cup).
  • Grapefruit (half of whole fruit).
  • Egg, cooked as you want, with no butter or oil (1 whole).

Your Lunch:

  • Plain coffee (1 cup).
  • Grapefruit (half of whole fruit).
  • Salad, greens of your choice.
  • Pure extra virgin olive oil (1 TB).

Your Dinner:

  • Grapefruit (half of whole fruit).
  • Lean meat like fish or chicken, sauteed in olive or coconut oil, boiled, or baked (4 ounces).
  • Salad, greens of your choosing (1 bowl).
  • Steamed vegetables of your choosing (unlimited).

By following this strict menu, you are sure to shed weight, but it is water weight so don’t snap back to bad eating habits after the 3 days. Do not use this menu for longer than 12 days at any one time.
